About us

The African HIV Research Forum was established in its current form in 2000 and launched in September 2001.

Its main aim is to bring together individuals and organisations to focus on all aspects of HIV research relating to the various African communities within the United Kingdom.

 

Aims and Objectives

  1. To bring together organisations and individuals to develop a strategic approach to HIV research and African communities, within the UK
  2. To increase participation of local African communities in the research process.
  3. To develop ideas and priorities around all aspects of HIV research for, and with African communities.
  4. To provide a forum for research to be presented to in order to share information and ideas.
  5. To raise awareness of research priorities relating to African communities to policy makers and key stakeholders (including academics and funding agencies.)

The forum is open access and co-ordinated by a Steering Committe

There are bi yearly Research Forums (Seminar Days) where researchers and others interested in HIV research can network and share ideas. The research days also provide updates on research, news and other relevant presentation
